Two Purim celebrations highlight weekend events in and around South Brunswick this weekend.

Saturday

CPR Marathon, 45 Henderson Rd, Kendall Park, 9 a.m.

Practice CPR/AED protocols; enter to win a free CPR Anyime Kit. Sessions begin at 9 a.m., noon, and 3 p.m. Email ozzyh@optonline.net or call 732-297-6042 to guarantee your spot in class. Everyone age 10 and older is encouraged to attend.

Central Jersey (geek) Culture Appreciation, South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Ln, Monmouth Junction, 1:30 p.m.

A group of friendly, open-minded, mostly 20 and 30-somethings whose interests run the gamut from Buffy to Doctor Who, comic books to Lord of the Rings, Cranium to Dungeons and Dragons and far more. Sunday

Annual Chabad of South Brunswick Purim celebration. Come dressed up for the Masquerade Contest in the costume of your choice. There will be a delicious Purim Buffet, including sushi, hamantashen, and many other treats. Fun and entertainment for the entire family will include a fabulous bubble show, live music by the Baker Brothers, kid’s crafts and fun activities. The event will take place Sunday, Feb. 24, 4 p.m. Megillah Reading, followed by Purim Festivities, at Pierre’s Ballroom, 582 Georges Road in Monmouth Junction. Entry costs $18 for adults and $12 for children.  RSVP online for an early bird special.

Purim Carnival, Congregation B'nai Tikvah, 1001 Finnegan Ln, North Brunswick, noon.

The carnival supports the B’nai Tikvah youth groups.  The day will include games, inflatables, prizes, food, a magician, photo booth, and Passover wine tasting and sales.  Discounted tickets are available for sale until February 20th at the synagogue.

Bring a donation for M.C.F.O.O.D.S., Middlesex County’s Emergency Food Distribution Network, of tuna fish, cereal, macaroni & cheese, condensed milk, canned meats & pastas, peanut butter or jelly.   For more information, call 732-297-0696.

Zen Buddhist Meditation and Services, 291 Witherspoon St, Princeton, 7 p.m.

Join Rev. Andre Dōshim Halaw, Zen priest, for Zen meditation and Buddhist liturgy on Sunday nights from 7-9 p.m. No meditation experience necessary; all are welcome. Meditation instruction offered for beginners. Dress comfortably. Mats and cushions supplied. Parking available in rear of building. Newcomers, should arrive by 6:45 p.m. for beginning instruction.
