Dinner fundraisers and American Legion holiday party highlight weekend events in and around South Brunswick.

Saturday

Chicken Parm Dinner VFW Post 9111, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9111, 11 Henderson Rd, Kendall Park, 5 p.m.

Chicken Parm Dinner Fund Raiser from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Open to the public. Meal includes: chicken parm, spaghetti, salad, rolls, dessert and beverages.  Adults $12 each, Children 6-12 $7, Under 5-free. All donations go to support the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Spaghetti Dinner, Crossroads North Middle School, 635 Georges Rd, Monmouth Junction, 5:30 p.m.

Sponsored by Boyscout Troop 888 from Dayton. Only $8, with children under 5 eating for free. Meal includes garlic bread, meatballs and penna pasta. Bring the whole family.

American Legion Christmas Party, 148 Major Rd, Monmouth Junction, 6:30 p.m.

American Legion Post 401 will host their annual Christmas Party at the Post Hall on Saturday, December 8, with dinner buffet served from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., dancing until midnight with DJ Doc, and great door prizes. The event is open to the public, 21 and older, with tickets $12.50 per person, which must be purchased by Dec. 4. Only 80 tickets will be sold and none sold at the door. For information call 732-329-9861. Tickets are available for purchase and pickup at the Post Hall.

Poets Donnelly and Fitzgerald at the Library, South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Ln, Monmouth Junction, 2 p.m.

Poets Timothy Donnelly and Adam Fitzgerald will headline the monthly South Brunswick Poetry Series on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. The reading is sponsored by the South Brunswick Arts Commission. It is free, though a donation of a nonperishable food item to the South Brunswick Food Pantry is appreciated. An open reading will follow the feature poets. Donnelly is the poetry editor of The Boston Review and a 2012 Guggenheim Fellow. His book,The Cloud Corporation, was a finalist for the Poetry Society of America’s William Carlos Williams Award and received the 2012 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award. Fitzgerald, a 2001 graduate of South Brunswick High School, is the author of The Late Parade, due from W.W. Norton/Liveright in June.
