Walk or drive around town you’ll see people from the Indian sub-continent wearing traditional style clothes.  We see the local Indian stores in town, we see even Stop & Shop have a whole section now on Indian groceries.

If you go to Costco, you’ll see many different things for sale of Indian/Desi background.  FYI “Desi” is another term for people from the Indian Sub-Continent.  Maybe in a future blog, I’ll cover more desi related terminology, for example ABCD (American Born Confused Desi or I’ve changed it to in my case American Born Cool Desi, haha)  Anyway I digress.

India became an independent nation in 1947 after a struggle for independence which was marked by non-violent resistance led by Mahatma Gandhi and other key figures.
