Get to know Joe Camarota a little better, IACFNJ Picnic and AIPP Forum taking place this week!

Yo, Hello, Hiya, Assalamou Alykoum, Namaskar, Namaste, Sat Sri Akal, Hola, Shalom, wasup!

It's been a busy few weeks and I haven't been able to blog as regularly as I would like.

Had opportunity to visit Pittsburgh recently for work, nice city with very hospitable people. I was lucky enough to have dinner at the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto, overlooking the Pittsburgh skyline.  I ordered the shark entree!

Also another important event to be aware of is the Aging in Place Partnership (AIPP) and Easter Seals hosting the "AIPP Accessible Transportation Community Forum" from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, June 17 at the South Brunswick Public Works building. AIPP  invites you to participate in a vital initiative to help develop solutions to the mobility challenges South Brunswick may face.

At this forum, the Aging in Place PARTNERSHIP will begin creating a Plan for Action to develop expanded transportation options. Participants will discuss possibilities for using volunteer drivers, taxi vouchers, and other innovative means to expand services. This will also be an opportunity for the community to learn about the county’s new M1 bus connection in South Brunswick. The Partnership will also seek individuals willing to advocate for pending NJ legislation which will provide volunteer drivers insurance protection. ESPA, the national training and technical and assistance center on accessible transportation staff will be present to provide a national perspective and additional resources to support the Forum.

The event is free BUT pre-registration is a requirement. Contact the Aging in Place PARTNERSHIP at AgingInPlaceAdvocate.com. or 732-305-7079.  Be sure to leave your phone number and, where possible, a clearly printed email address. Or sign up with Sue Trilli at the South Brunswick Senior Center.

Lastly, I said in my first few posts, I had a nice idea to make this blog more interesting in a way where we can get to know the different people in town a little better.

With that mind, I posed a few questions to our Councilman Joe Camarota.

When did you come to the South Brunswick Community?  Charlotte and I moved in SB in 1989.

What is the best part of your role in the town? Meeting and assisting people with their issues and concerns in making SB an even better place to live and work in.

What do you feel you bring to councilman role?  My commitment and dedication to the all the residents of SB.  I am very honored and humbled to be in the position I am, and as a result, take it very seriously.

Is there anything you want to say to the South Brunswick Community? Please continue to contact me, and or my colleagues, about your concerns, issues, or thoughts so that we can be made aware of them and act accordingly.

Favorite Appliance (Yes it's a wacky question) It's a tie between the refrigerator and freezer- both served me equally well.

Favorite sports team(s) Philadelphia Phillies- Eagles (Arif comment: Maybe Joe shouldn't have disclosed that, the Yankees/Mets/Jets/Giants fans in town may take issue, lol)

Best part of living in town? Being part of a diverse community that offers so much to so many, or, to just a few- with one common denominator- making SB a great place to live in.  There are so many individuals and groups that volunteer so much of their time and work so hard in allowing this town to function as well as it does, and without them, it wouldn't happen.  We all owe them our most sincere gratitude.

Well, there you go, thank you to Joe for taking time out of his busy schedule to share his answers with us!  I'll try to get other people from around town to do similar Question and Answer sessions for this blog!

Good night South Brunswick, I have to go back to the NBA Finals, rooting for the Mavs to finish off the Heat in Game 6!
