Sen. Kyrillos on Gov. Chris Christie's Keynote Speech

Candidate for U.S. Senate Senator Joe Kyrillos (R-Monmouth) released the following statement tonight regarding Governor Chris Christie's keynote speech at the 2012 Republican National Convention.
"I have never been more proud to call Chris my governor and my friend. Governor Christie represented the people of New Jersey with honor and distinction, and America saw why he is one of the most effective governors in the country. He did something that has become rare in our current political climate: he talked openly and honestly to the American people about the challenges we face. Just as important, he offered a path forward.
“Governor Christie is a model of leadership, willing to work with members of both parties to reform government and make it more accountable. As he said tonight, we are now demanding that our leaders stop tearing each other down, but work together to find bipartisan compromise. We must lead the way our citizens live. Not by avoiding tough truths, but by facing them dead on…we need politicians to care more about doing something and less about being something.
“I have been privileged to work with the Governor and others in New Jersey to meet our challenges. Together, we have capped property taxes, reformed the pension system, and put the education of our children ahead of the special interests. Unlike Senator Menendez, we have put the people we serve ahead of petty partisan politics. And it’s this spirit of bi-partisan reform I will bring to Washington, DC."

Kyrillos abandoned his District 13 constituents by not even making a comment to support Union Beach in its fight to prevent a 38-story noisy industrial wind turbine with blades each the size of a cell tower from being erected way too close to a lot of homes. Hazlet, Matawan, Holmdel, Keyport, Union Beach and Monmouth County (all within his district) also passed resolutions opposing the turbine. But still Kyrillos refused to weigh in, even after he granted a meeting to a few locals looking for his help. Recently, he was the only Republican sponsor on a bill that would have allowed wind turbines up to 500' tall on preserved farm land in two southern NJ counties. Kyrillos is not what he claims. He's a wheeling-and-dealing back door politician with no loyalty to the people he's supposed to represent. I'm a Republican, and will gladly vote for a write-in candidate as Kyrillos is deliberately throwing his Union Beach area constituents under the bus.

This guy is a local, low level, anti-choice (although it is hard to tell by his web site) politician who is making goodie-goodie to the bully Christie to help his chances in the election against Senator Menendez. And he says: "Unlike Senator Menendez, we have put the people we serve ahead of petty partisan politics. And it’s this spirit of bi-partisan reform I will bring to Washington, DC." Doesn't he read his own, self-contradictory stuff?

Senator Kyrillos, we have capped property taxes just about as well as we have championed campaign reform. We have reformed the pension system so that the employees contribute more to their futures while the state continues to thwart the law by refusing to fulfill its duty of making the state’s annual contributions, thus undermining the sincere efforts of the working employees to help themselves and save the system. And in NJ, nothing has been done to put anything before special interests period. The major truism of Gov. Christie’s keynote speech was the bipartisan support he has mustered. However, I feel rather confident speculating that the support and financing of both George Gilmore and George Norcross is not the answer to America’s problems.

Mac- you should have continued. . .but is the exact disease of politics. . .better known as cronyism and corruption. Kyrillos like the rest of them plays a two faced game. . .one for the public and the other like you say. . .only surfaces when some crony goes to jail? Kyrillos and the rest of them have made deals and promises to their financial backers, like the unions for one...making agreements in the past that they can no longer fund(pensions & medical). . .a kind of "catch 22" in waiting?
