What Business Should Move into the Vacant Marketplace on Route 27?
What would you like to see in this vacant commercial space?
This two-store out-building in the Marketplace shopping center on Route 27 has been vacant for several months. Formerly the home of Children's Place Outlet -- which moved to another storefront in the shopping center -- and Konoko Japanese restaurant (now Sushi King in Town Place in Kendall Park), it remains vacant.
While the building is in Franklin Park, it is part of the Kendall Park shopping area.
Patch wants to know what you think should go here. Answer in the comments below.

This space has been purchased by Walgreens... construction is currently on hold because the residents surrounding the property are fighting Franklin's planning board because they don't want a 24-hour business on that corner.

It would be great if a KOHL"s could come in the area. We do not have a local place to shop for clothes, and other items for the home or family. Walmart too is a great choice. Why another Walgreens????

a real restaurant.. no chili's, no longhorns, no pizza hut, no ruby tuesday. We need a good non-franchise restaurant in the area that serves great food has a nice wood bar, and does not impact the houses in the area.....

It is too small of a space for Walmart or Kohls. How about a craft store? Michaels - AC Moore? Traders Joes would work there though...

Starbucks, Panera, other lunch places - will need to support the medical offices across the street and offer convenience for neighboring residents. I'm sure there will be a Walgreens also since they own the property - not really needed, but fine by me.

I agree that the space is too small for a Walmart or Kohl's type of store, but I would love to see a store that sells quality (not expensive) women's fashions and/or shoes, a greeting card/gift shop or a PANERA Bread. I love that place. There are other empty spaces in the center, too, that need filling. Walgreen's isn't necessary; there are 2 CVS stores and 1 Walgreen's on Rt. 27 already; another one isn't necessary. Franklin Township needs to improve roads, too, if they continue to build retail and residential properties up and down the road. They can't leave it to South Brunswick to seek improvements on their own.

It would be nice if there was enough space so that a Walmart could move in here or even if they would develop just a (Walmart) clothing mini store. You are right we don't need another CVS or Walgreen's.

What do you mean "if"? With the candidates the republicans are putting forth, it will be business as usual for another four years.

Okay, AC, WHEN Obama does win, we can put an unemployment office, Section 8 housing, planned parenthood along with a free health care clinic (Supreme Court pending), and a Welfare office in that space. Although the space will then be way too small for all the parasites that will wind up there.
Here is a link to the welfare poster child. Hysterical, but true.
