Updated List of Power Outages in South Brunswick

If you see any area missing, tell us in the comments.

It's estimated that 70 percent of South Brunswick is still without power in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.

South Brunswick officials said the latest estimates from PSE&G for power restoration is 7 to 10 days from today (Wednesday).

The township OEM is creating long term plans to deal with the extended outage in South Brunswick by working with faith based organizations and the business community to coordinate the response.

To report any power outages please call PSE&G at 1-800-436-7734. All outages must be reported by residents to PSE&G directly.

Is that estimate of 7 to 10 days just for south Brunswick or is that the whole state? If so that is pathetic. The state has abandoned us. The tree that fell on new road is still there. Not even touched. Why can't pseg just tell us why our power is out. No communication at all. They didn't learn their lesson from hurricane Irene

I am grateful I still have my home and my thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost so much. I do agree it is very frustrating when you call PSE&G 800 # all you get is a recording saying "we are experiencing large volume of calls - please try your call later, CLICK!" Whisperwoods has been out of power since Monday, when I called in our outage on Monday, I was told our power would be restored on November 5th. I remain hopful it will be restored before that.

Before they said power will be restored at Whispering Woods on Nov. 5th. Now it all of a sudden says Nov.9th? How are residential areas the last priority considering we're all freezing when we sleep every night?

Scott the 7 to 10 days estimate is for South Brunswick. Estimates for the rest of the state vary from town to town, but they're not much different from South Brunswick in terms of the time frame.

Deerfield Trl and Renk Farm Dr have been out of power from about 4 pm on 10/29. It is indeed very difficult to believe that we live in the most advanced country in the world and have not learned from Katrina. 10-14 days from the disaster date to bring back power is incredible.

Southridge woods, section 2 and south gate does not have power. Just because majority of people living there is South Asian community, the racist mayor and PSEG always give them the short end of the stick. During Irene also only they did not have power for 5 days. There was a big brouhaha when police station did not have power but as soon as they got it back, the city is now happy.

Scott, sometime last night the power went out again across the street from WW. So Wynwood is down and the Valero gas station near Raymond Road is out of power now. Rt 1 south in West Windsor at the circle has some gas stations open. However rumor has it they are only allowing you to put $20 dollars in your tank.

Kyle

5:16 pm on Thursday, November 1, 2012

Who cares they have no food. People won't need gas to operate generators if they get the residential sections up first. Kind of common sense.

We are one of the lucky ones- our power came back on. I feel guilty that we have it. We have offered our home to many friends just so they can charge up and warm up. I know that it is frustrating for everyone- but the crews are out there working, there is just a lot to do and not enough people to do it. Resources are stretched thin throughout the state. Home Depot was running on generators so that people could get in and get some supplies. Same with some of the food stores. No priority was given. Wynwood was excited to get power this afternoon only to have a transformer fire and they are back to no power. Many of the township workers have yet to see their families- they are busy trying to clear up the road and trees. Our volunteer firemen and first aiders have also be busy. And our police have done a great job. We need to be thankful for what we have- seeing the devastation throughout NJ and New York, we as a community are lucky. Give these workers time- many of them live in NJ and probably haven't been home to their families.

Whisperwoods experienced the same problem with Irene so I think it is safe to say we may be on the same power grid as you are. I drove past New Road this morning and there is NO activity on that road. I am not saying PSE&G are not working hard and I am extremely grateful to all the out of state contractors. I would just like to see one of them in my area or at least hear more info as to why New Road has not been addressed. Power restoration on New Rd would also address two of the traffic lights out on Rt 1.

Latest e-mail from South Brunswick - FRIDAY UPDATE: Power information, Fuel locations, food locations

12:30pm FRIDAY UPDATE: Representatives from PSE&G promised additional resources to South Brunswick in the next day. Township officials relayed the scope of the outages to PSE&G. The company could not provide any more specific time table for restoration then 7 days. The warming day shelter, charging stations, and showers are all operational. FEMA representatives were in South Brunswick to help assess the situation.

Power reports are only estimations based on citizen feedback and officer observations. PSE&G has the official list and residents should call 1-800-436-7734 to report outages. Power has been restored to Finnegans Lane and Route 1 intersection. It is unclear if the restored power applies to any of the Finnegans Lane homes affected by the outage.

Power remains out in the following areas that were previously believed to have been restored – parts of Fresh Impressions Development, Tamaron Woods, The Villagio , parts of Friendship Road

***FUEL LOCATIONS***

Wawa - Route 535 / Deans Rhode Hall Road
Valero – Route 27 / Allston Road
Valero – both locations Route 130 – Distribution Way and Dey Road

Sunocco – 27 /18
Shell – 1/ Finnegans Lane

***FOOD

Stop-Shop – Route 27- limited
Stop-Shop – Route 522 – limited

Southridge hills don't have power yet. Another week for restoration is crazy with smaller kids. Our utilities are decades old and need new infrastructures asap. Our crews are working hard but the utilities are piece of junk so what can they do? All we can say is that sit and pray hoping these will work eventually within a week. No one gives the details of whats being done to restore. I have two small kids and its cruel not to have heat when temp @30s at night.

Just called PSE&G for the 7th time in 7 days. Hold time was exactly 19 minutes at 1:30 am in the morning - ridiculous! Told the system is down and no previously reported incidents can be looked up. again - ridiculous! Both ends of Cranston road have power but 8 homes in the middle of the block do not. Again - ridiculous !
Every time one of my neighbors calls we are given a different story . They range from " your power was restored already" " your scheduled for Nov 11th" "your scheduled for Nov 9th" "your scheduled for Nov 5th" " we have no record of power down there" and so many others. I understand this is a disaster of proportions never seen before but PLEASE!! How about getting some competent people on board to get things moving forward. I have not seen one PSE&G vehicle since the storm. Where are these workers ? Big time Failure PSE&G !!!! Shame on you !
YOU FAILED ONCE AGAIN WITH YOUR POOR INFORMATION & ORGANIZATION!
