Two Homes on Route 27 Corridor Burglarized This Week

South Brunswick Police working to determine if burglaries this week are connected to last week's break-ins at the Brunswick Acres development.

A South Brunswick resident returned to her home to find a burglar inside the house on Monday, one of two residential burglaries reported on the Route 27 corridor this week. This is the second time in the last two weeks that mid-day burglaries have hit the township.

At 4:15 p.m. on Monday, a Spruce Lane teenager reported finding a burglar inside her house as she walked in the residence. The suspect immediately fled the home after seeing the resident enter, according to police.

The suspect appears to have gained entry through an unlocked door before he stole a laptop computer from the home, police said.

The suspect is described as a light skinned male with a slim build. He was wearing a blue/grey hoodie and blue jeans.

The second burglary took place this afternoon on Rocky Hill Road. At 12:43 p.m., officers responded to a burglar alarm at a Rocky Hill Road residence and discovered the house had been broken into.

According to police, the suspect entered through a basement window before ransacking the master bedroom.

In both cases, the suspect searched the master bedroom and stole jewelry from the residence. Police have not yet determined if the burglaries this week are linked to the Brunswick Acres burglaries.

South Brunswick Police are working with neighboring communities to identify the pattern of burglaries, said police spokesman Sgt. Jim Ryan.

The suspect typically approaches the residences on foot and appears to be targeting unlocked windows and doors. Thus far, the suspects have taken electronics and jewelry, police said.

"Residents need to be extra vigilant with locking doors and reporting any unusual activity," said Chief Raymond Hayducka via release. "Our best asset is the alert members of our community."
