The speedy growth of the Facebook group, Things That Aren't There Anymore in Central Jersey lead us to the obvious question: What about South Brunswick?
OK folks. Many of you, like me, have joined the Facebook group Things That Aren't There Anymore in Central Jersey. Reading through the comments made me realize that South Brunswick Patch would be a great place to post the same question: What is gone and what do you miss?
Add your memories to the comments below and feel free to upload photos and video. We want to create an online scrapbook for the community and we need your help.
This group is for all those who reside or used to reside in the Central NJ area to help us remember the places we used to frequent, pass by, and otherwise remember fondly as a part of our growing up in New Jersey. Please feel free to add pictures, videos, anecdotes, and other memories you may have of places that are long gone so we can all remember them, and please invite others who might also help build up the board. Twenty six or more years ago there used to be a diner where mcdonalds is now. We used to go there for their omlettes and a big stack of bacon. It was small but the people were friendly. All the truckers used to stop there.

The cinema -- which was where CVS is now -- had been a Foodtown (before they built the one in the Franklin Towne Center -- which is now Steinmart) and a Food Fair. It is amazing how things change.

Joe's Green Acres Tavern on the corner of Rt. 27 and Stilwell Road- now Dusal's. Siegal's Pharmacy RT. 27 and Henderson Road- now Think Grill. A&P- now the Kendall Park Post Office. Food Town- became the Kendall Park Cinema, now a CVS Pharmacy. Holiday Bake Shop in the old Kendall Park Shopping Center.

7 places I miss:
1. The Hub. It was the first bar that I could go to legally. It was closed and now houses a realty office.
2. Mini-Check 5&10. What a crazy mix of junk and useful items.
3. Chaunceys. It closed a few years ago and was a place my wife and I would go with friends. They knocked it down accidentally.
4. The Claypot -- a solid restaurant that stood where Burger King now stands.
5. Dip and Do paint store and hardware, which used to be in what is now the Kendall Park Post Office shopping center.

Every town needs a place like Chauncey's -- basic food, comfortable atmosphere, baseball on TV, video games. There just aren't too many neighborhood taverns like it anymore in the suburbs.

I used to work in Dayton and on Fridays, everyone I worked with would order take-out from Fat Eddie's. That place had the best buritto's!!! I haven't worked there in some 25 years. Miss the ole days!!
