Meal for a Cause to Aid South Brunswick Cancer Charity

The Day by Day Hope Foundation provides help with day to day needs for those battling cancer, in addition to assisting with financial, legal and insurance issues.

For people fighting the horrors of cancer, a little hope can go a long way. South Brunswick's Day by Day Hope Foundation was started to provide aid to middle class citizens with cancer who need help with everyday needs.  who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010.

"We've been really fortunate and have seen a lot of people willing to help so far," Confalone said. "This is a serious problem. Kendall Park alone has about a dozen families with someone fighting cancer right now."

The foundation provides assistance for financial, legal and insurance issues to families affected by cancer. The foundation also provides help with everything from yard work to grocery shopping for those in need.

Confalone and her husband have operated a holistic healthcare practice since 1989. After Cheryl's diagnosis, the Confalones put together a team of volunteers to assist in every aspect of the fight against cancer. The foundation helps with every patient’s varying needs, from simple daily tasks to offering free legal work from lawyers who assist in dealing with insurance issues and hurdles.

The only prerequisite for assistance from the foundation is people can't be eligible for aid from social services.

On Tuesday, the foundation will be holding its next fundraiser with an event at the  in Marlboro. The restaurant, which is owned by South Brunswick natives Steve Barclay and John Barbely, will give 20 percent of their proceeds from the day to the foundation.

"It's ridiculous how many people are in need of help," Confalone said. "So we try to help as many people as we can. To do that we need money and people willing to help us."

The Meal for a Cause event will be held on Tuesday, April 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., at the , located at 133 South Main Street in Marlboro. Print the pdf flyer above to bring with you.
