Letter: Praise for Making South Brunswick Holiday Program a Success
South Brunswick Director of Social Services LouAnne Wolf.
As the holiday season draws to a close here in the South Brunswick Social Services Department, I would be remiss in not thanking all who participated to help make the 139 families who were “adopted” receive beautiful gifts for each of their children.
Our seniors and individuals without children were also given food for the holidays as well as a token gift.
We have been “working” on our Holiday Program 2012 since the end of August. Each year we tweak it just a little to make it run smoother than the year before. We are fortunate to have wonderful volunteers in our department and Lisa B. who is our pantry worker all year long. Everyone works long hours to make the holidays fun for everyone.
Thank you to the schools, local businesses, organizations, churches, and many individuals/residents who adopted the 139 families. Without their assistance this program would not be as successful as it was.
An anonymous businessman, along with his colleagues, helped support the food pantry as well as others within Middlesex County with pallets of water, canned goods, personal items and the like which helped fill our food pantry and allowed us to provide completely filled baskets of food to our clients.
A very special thank you to each and every volunteer who came on a daily basis and sorted food, packed the two boxes each for 221 families and individuals. Our programs all year long could not run without the many hours these individuals give of their time.
I also want to thank Roy Skalko and our Public Works Department who each holiday season allows him to work directly with us as he picks up food donations and drops off gifts and food to our families.
Both Carol and I worked long yet enjoyable hours to make this all happen. Our offices will be closed until January 2, 2013, so let us wish you all a very happy holiday season and a happy and healthy New Year.
