Education Foundation of South Brunswick Awards School Grants

Various projects and initiatives to be funded by Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township, Inc.

The Education Foundation of South Brunswick continues to seek ways to provide educational support for students and teachers through programs and projects that fall outside of the district's operational budget.

The foundation, which includes several former South Brunswick Board of Education members on its Board of Trustees, last year awarded two $2,500 scholarships to seniors at South Brunswick High School and awarded $5,200 in grants to district staff members for innovative programming.

The Foundation has awarded over $10,000 to graduating seniors, donated more than $13,000 in teacher grant opportunities and $25,000 in technology upgrades to VTN.

At a meeting last month, the foundation announced the next grant recipients. Board of Education Vice President Deborah Taylor thanked the Foundation for their work and for the many grants awarded throughout the District. She noted the budget does not allow for particular expenses and the support of the Foundation has made a difference. She also congratulated the 2011 – 2012 grant recipients, noting their dedication to their work resulted in this opportunity to enhance their work.

Superintendent Gary McCartney congratulated the grant recipients.  He noted that schools have boundaries and budgetary constraints, and the Education Foundation has helped to remove some of the obstacles that would not have allowed for the creativity and opportunities shared.  He also thanked the Foundation for the scholarships awarded to student scholarships and congratulated the student recipients.
