MONMOUTH JUNCTION - The South Brunswick Family YMCA announced that it received a $2,000 grant from Amboy Bank via the Amboy Foundation. The proceeds will be used to provide financial aid scholarships for summer camp participants.
"We are very pleased to have the support of Amboy Bank," stated Tom Libassi, Executive Director of the South Brunswick Family YMCA. "The Y provides financial assistance to ensure that everyone has access to Y programs and services, regardless of income."
John Papakonstantinou, Branch Manger of the Amoby Bank - Dayton, presented the check to Mr. Libassi last week. "Amboy Bank recognizes the valuable work of non-profits. The South Brunswick Family YMCA is an important part of our community."
Libassi noted that during the economic downturn, requests for financial assistance have more that doubled. "We do not turn anyone away because of an inability to afford our programs. We have been fortunate that local businesses, Y members and our community have continued to support the Y through tax deductible donations. These donations are vital to our operations."
South Brunswick Family YMCA is a nonprofit values based, community-centered, membership organization dedicated to enriching the spirit, mind and body through quality programming and services; including child care, after school programming, sports, aquatics, health and fitness classes, family activities, senior programming, personal training and summer camp. Over the past 16 years, they have continued to grow and expand programs and today reaching a membership that exceeds 1,550 local families, seniors, teens, youth and adults with more than 2,500 people using the facility on a regular basis.
