YMCA - 2012 Senior Society Volunteers Recognized

The 2012 Senior Society volunteers at the South Brunswick Family YMCA will receive the 2012 Volunteer of the Year award from the NJ YMCA State Alliance.  The event recognizing their work will be held Thursday, October 4 at Forsgate Country Club.  A photo and plaque will be given to South Brunswick High School acknowledging their efforts.

Each year, South Brunswick High School allows seniors to volunteer for approximately three weeks at a local business.  The South Brunswick Family YMCA has always been the beneficiary of volunteers.  The 2012 Senior Society group of thirty (30) students was outstanding and their collective contributions made a huge difference to the Y facility and programs.  Their work included reorganizing and labeling all photos from 2002 – 2012, updating bulletin boards, assisting the teachers and children in the Child Development Center, erecting three large tents for Summer Camp, clearing a large area for camper activities in a wooded section of an existing nature trail, repainted a storage container, dismantled a damaged storage shed, cleaned all tables and chairs for summer camp, assisted with the expansion of the parking lot, and more!

A value could not be placed on the work completed….it was an amazing display of teamwork, dedication and hard work.  On behalf of the Board of Directors, Y team members and Y members, thank you for a job well done!
